How to Recover from Flood Damage

Let's be realistic here, accidents happen and sometimes when you least expect it.  We get used to our day to day lives so much that a large number of us don't worry about taking preventive measures.

In Florida, flood damage is a very real threat.  As a primary effect we have physical damage to our property that can cost upwards of tens of thousands of dollars, sometimes even millions depending on where you live, that can have a devastating financial effect in our lives.

Here are a couple of steps we can take to recover from flood damage:

  1. First run to the nearest place in your home away from flooded ceilings that could potentially collapse
  2. Turn off the electricity
  3. Start clearing out or blocking more water form entering areas.  You can block out water by using piles of wood or styrofoam.
  4. Immediately begin to salvage any personal belongings, clothes, appliances, television, computers, etc...
  5. During this when you are salvaging personal belongings, you should make a phone call, and it is up to you whether to decide who this phone call should be made out too first.  If there are injured people, call an ambulance.  If the damage is not that severe, then call a water restoration company.  If the damage is extensive and serious, call your insurance company.

For Flood Damage, you can certainly give us a call and we can work with you every step of the way to get you back on your feet.
